McIlroy Gamin in North Carolina is
researching local author Archibald McIlroy
who wrote books about the town at the turn
of the century. Derek Smyth in Idaho has
memories of his school days in Larne.
David Ray in Los Angeles is working on
family links with a member of our
Historical Society. However of most
interest are the discoveries that the
family roots of people who played a major
role in American history are in our area.
They include Sam Houston, Mark Twain,
General Macomb and some cowboys from
Ballyeaston. You can read about them by
clicking the American Connection link
below.

Jim
Blair in Ontario has found so many people
from Ballyclare in that part of Canada
that they have just formed an association
with around hundred members who now meet
annually. Frank King in Nova Scotia
remembers crawling through some
souterrains like those we recently
discovered. Michael Knox in Winnipeg was
among those who received a copy of our
journal "Ollar View" from friends here and
then found this site. James Stewart of
Vancouver was at school in Ballyclare with
one of our members in the fifties and we
managed a reunion when we took a group to
tour Western Canada.

Coker from New Zealand is researching
Ballyclare roots as is Campbell Boyd in
Auckland. Glenda Smith's father emigrated
to Queensland. Graham Wilmot in Brisbane
wanted to know about the Rugby Club. I was
able to help Rod Smith in Wellington on
events in 1798.
