A
Place Called
Tranquility
was the first of a
trilogy of books which
will follow the Hamill
family from Ireland to
America. The second
Across
the Saltwater
Bridge
begins after the '98 and
is set in Ballyclare and
Belfast up to Famine
times.
The
next generation lives,
as the title indicates,
across the Saltwater
Bridge in the newly
built Sandy Row. This
bridge on the Blackstaff
was the highest point
seawater reached.
Appropriately one of the
family goes to sea and
the story
expands.
The
cover of the new book
which is yet to be
published is a painting
by one of our members,
Janette McKendry, and
the introduction to the
book is by Archie
Reid
