In November of 1968 when a group of new bungalows was being built at Riverdale on the Ballycorr Road in Ballyclare an interesting discovery was made. The foreman, William Geary unearthed a hoard of 39 worked flints. Twenty two were perfectly shaped flint arrow heads and the rest were blanks ready to be finished indicating that an industry existed here four thousand years ago. It is probable the arrowheads were traded and the site is near a crossing place on the Six Mile River where a trail existed.

When the find was featured in the video "Places from the Past" a sequence was shot at the Ulster Museum where they are now displayed. The Curator of Antiquities later brought the flints back to Ballyclare for a meeting of Ballyclare & District Historical Society.

The discovery of the flints is another indication that people lived on the higher ground above the river in ancient times
