In the
Nineteenth Century this school stood in the Square
where Woodsides Store is today. The teacher, David
McCune, was universally known as 'Fractions' from
his skill in mathematics. A second school in
Foundry Lane was the "Wooden Box". The pupils from
both walked in procession to the new primary school
when it opened. Now there are five excellent
schools in the town and you can visit their web
sites
