At the end of a short passage is a circular
chamber and this niche inscribed with symbols of
the sun and of water. We picked them out by the
light of a torch but as at New Grange a shaft of
sunlight follows a line on the stone once a year
showing an advanced knowledge of astronomy. This is
one of a number of cairns at Loughcrew.
