As part of the
programme to commemorate 1798 Bob Armstrong,
Secretary of the Abbey Historical Society and
Archie Reid, Secretary of Ballyclare and District
Historical Society took a group of fifty on a one
day tour of sites in County Antrim associated with
the rising. The climax was the laying of flowers by
the Lady Mayoress of Newtownabbey on the grave of
Jemmy Hope who was one of the leaders.
