The Ballyclare Victoria Flute Band has its
origins in a Minstral Troupe known as McFarlane's
String Band in the early years of the Twentieth
Century. Bob McFarlane was a talented flautist and
just after the First World War he formed the band
as we know it today. When this photograph was taken
in 1932 they were beginning to enter competitions
with encouraging results. They have now been
acclaimed as World Champion Flute Band for the 21st
time in October 2003.
